// To raw intensity, and I can relate even though I’m out of the demo target range. adidas global brand moved its ad account to Montreal agency Sid Lee last year (they held the adidas Originals line account since ’08), and now they’re poised to launch a global campaign they produced called “adidas is all in” today, reaching 100+ countries. The campaign will promote adidas Sport Performance, adidas Originals and adidas Sport Style. The video and the soundtrack is music from Civilization’s new album Justice. Their great tagline entices, and kind of stands for what Sid Lee projects as an outstanding agency: “Heart over head. Inclusion over ego. United by passion, we go all in. Go all in at http://www.youtube.com/adidas.”

// This. Is. Amazing. Even though recycled plastic is wasteful and harmful, it is playful to use it as art objects! If you’re creatively inclined, you’ve probably felt the urge to turn plastic into art at some point…Enter Canadian artist Aurora Robson. Aurora is Canadian, grew up in Hawaii and has lived in New York for 20 years (she’s in Brooklyn now). She created these outstanding pieces made out of recycled plastic marine debris, courtesy of the Waimea Ocean Film Festival, with support from the Sculpt the Future Foundation, the Parker School in Waimea, and the Hawaii Wildlife Fund. // There is nothing like reading the paper every morning, I love holding its crisp texture in my hands. I don’t really mind noticing the black ink stains smudged across my face on occasion (hey, I’m a lefty – it happens). The New York Times is making headway into the digital realm to distribute and share content. They’re using Canada as their first test case before releasing their global online pay-wall for digital subscriptions to the public on March 28th. Digital content here we come, whether you like or not, it is a move to increase revenue growth from a major player. Here’s the deal, NYT subscriptions are available for a $15/mth plan for smartphone access, or $20 to include iPad app access. A subscription with access through every device will cost $35. NY Times says, “This change comes in two stages. On Thursday, we rolled out digital subscriptions to our readers in Canada, which will enable us to fine-tune the customer experience before our global launch. On March 28, we will begin offering digital subscriptions in the United States and the rest of the world.” More info can be read in a letter to their readers in The New York Times, here. // I still believe in creating the Seniors Network but efforts have been slightly derailed, and yet enlightened, by Zoomer Magazine moving into the market to target the 14.5 million Canadians who are 45+. It’s a huge overgrowing market, one that recently reported to be transitioning into a digital world quickly. McLean Greaves, VP of interactive media at Toronto-based ZoomerMedia Ltd said, “They’ve been later adapters, but when they feel the bugs have been worked out they’re all over it.” He says information shows the boomer generation represents the fastest-growing demographic in social media use, text messaging, and in spending on devices including tablet computers, smartphones and e-readers. I wonder what and how Gen Y / Echo boomers will be consuming in the later years?

// I was reading a book this week about learning to balance your life (thanks LO). One thought from the author stuck out, mentioning, “Those who use the right side of their brain will come across long stretches of time without inspiration, similar to writer’s block or artist’s cramp, and yet the best time to tap into the vein of imagination is what some call the stillpoint of consciousness.” How true to my own experiences. In that light, I wasn’t necessarily inspired by Moby’s new photography book & album called “destroyed” (yet), but rather curious about his talents behind-the-scenes. He composed a 128 page book of photos taken from his travels around the world of seemingly empty spaces transformed into thought-provoking contrasts. Moby describes his new work as “broken down melodic electronic music for empty cities at 2 a.m.” You can look out for the album to be released around May of this year. Comps to Stimulant, once again, for the news.
