// I absolutely *love* storytelling, it’s been the basis of my passion & inspiration in so many ways… but ’tis true, most brand stories are boring, we’re infiltrated with them in so many mediums, so you gotta be good @ inventing them. Enter CaT (stands for Creativity & Technology), an Advertising Age and Creativity Online led conference series. Here is the insightful video on CaT NY: Storytelling in the Digital Age, you can also follow them @ twitter.com/creativitycat for more interesting updates.
// UK-based CMDglobal.com closed to relaunch the ingenious CREAM (in Beta), the Innovation Exchange that’s updated to provide more case studies, content channels, How to’ Guides, News & more. I love the marketing / communications branding, submit your own content op, and case study video library with access to the latest, most viewed & top rated global campaigns. Nifty.
// Really good design stuff, silversmith David Clarkecreated a new project called “unusable tableware,” a series of made from electro plated nickel, silver and pewter, with embellished sculpting touches you wouldn’t expect to see, awfully original.
// Recently, Stimulant Online reported on the 2010 Campagne ParcoDon (warning, it’s en français)campaign to bring awareness to the homeless in Montreal by getting QC celebrities and businesses to paint their own parking meters, which will collect donations for the needy. Apparently this project is completely unique, and started back in ’07 with the Parking Montreal, the Ville-Marie & The Route campaign. I love this!
// UK’s Creative Review pulled some pretty interesting work from Brooklyn-based painter & graphic designer Scott Albrecht, who made popular sayings out of second-hand findings. Check out his beautifully clever art, typography, and woodworking creations here. Oh, and he has a show of new work coming up on Aug 27 in San Fran @ The Curiosity Shoppe. Hisonlineportfolio/CV is aesthetically amazing, as it should be!
// The World Basketball Festival and Nike produced 5 mini-docs as a part of the 1Love campaign to celebrate the Air Force 1 shoe. The vids are hosted by 5 ambassadors to weave together a story on why each of the 5 boroughs in New York City is special in celebration of the iconic Air Force 1 sneaker. BBgun, the NY-based film collective that worked on video projects with Kid Cudi, The Roots, directed the spots. Brooklyn-raised rapper, songwriter and producer Theophilus London kicks it off, as the focus of 1LOVE EP 1, here. The fact that each ambassador documented his or her memories of growing up in each borough made me watch until the very end, great content.
// The strange yet refreshingly practical shoes created by Vibram Five Fingers has now partnered with Nail Communications and CoolFire Media. They produced an interactive site called You Are The TechnologyThe shoes that look like feet is selling“barefoot technology,” designed so you feel as though you’re really barefoot when you sport the kicks. The flash site shows a stark realistic depiction of two nude bodies covered in text art using fonts that resemble tattoos to promote the natural runner. I’m going to find out if all the hype about the VFF shoes is true, and I will be able to run faster. Thank you AdAge.
