    axe

// Unilever launched a St.Patrick’s Day themed campaign for its Axe brand of male products, with Twitter. See the decked out in green base for the campaign @ TweetMeImIrish.com, where  you can create your own phrase instead of  ’Kiss Me I’m Irish” and replace the words Kiss & Irish to send to tweet friends. The site was created by U.S. firm JB Chicago and runs through St. Patrick’s Day. Toronto’s Zig and Harbinger PR are handling Canadian promotion for the campaign, which consists of messaging on Axe Canada’s Facebook page and media outreach.

    LG

// Well, not really. News in media, loss of clients and major scale backs in advertising have honestly dampened my excitement for LG Fashion Week Toronto this year…landing Mon Mar 16th to Mar 21st. I’m curious to see LG’s new line of cell phones in the tents (they are executive-level sponsor of Fashion Week for the 1st time) at Nathan Philips S2. I did appreciate the comp L’oreal goodies in the media/laptop bag :} x

// Yes, yes. The Barbie brand has turned 50 this month as most know. Really, this wicked take on a look back ‘through the eras’ is worth watching! After the Courtney Love audio track comes the fashion show! Barbie’s inventor, Ruth Handler, was actually a founder of Mattel. The doll was based on the hourglass figure on Bild Lilli (so interesting, check it out) a German doll that in turn was based on a foul-mouthed, promiscuous newspaper cartoon character. I remember my Barbie being tortured, often finding her in pieces in her mansion with her hair cut off…if you have brother, you can relate…

    V cover

// V Mag founder, CD and editor-in-chief Stephen Gan worked up some glowing creative inspiration for the Spring 09 Issue. SG comments on what inspired the glow-in-the-dark issue of V – “ I’ve always loved these “paper tricks,” things like die-cuts and pop-ups and the pop-up Visionaire “Surprise” is a good example of the “height” of these tricks.” Magazine was launched in September 1999 as the younger sibling publication to the limited-edition quarterlyVisionaire. If Visionaire is a couture book, V is ready-to-wear. V is large-format and visually-driven, international in scope and collaborative in spirit!

// American peanut producers and farmers are calling in pr to help avert the p crisis. Peanut born salmonella breakout killed 9 + caused a recall on 3.000 peanut products. The National Peanut Board has brought in heavy PR outreach to form campaigns within print, TV, radio and outdoor advertising to help rebuild consumer confidence. Yikes, I recently enjoyed a peanut butter sandwich this week…I can’t go without these adorable & delicious…nuts/legumes!

Peanuts, along with beans and peas, belong to the single plant family, Leguminosae. Legumes are edible seeds enclosed in pods. While their physical structure and nutritional benefits more closely resemble that of other legumes, their use in diets and cuisines more closely resembles that of nuts.

    aara_logo

// This new stamp marks a message of communication to the US public, or so the designers are hoping. Obama commented when the logo was presented, “We’re also making it easier for Americans to see what projects are being funded with their money as part of our recovery.” The ARRA logo (short for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) comes compliments of creativity.  Agency: Mode Project  Creative Director: Steve Juras  Designer: Aaron Draplin

    ark-clothing

// This interesting news from Stimulant promoted ARK clothing today (stands for Act Of Random Kindness). All you do is buy a shirt (or not), sign up as a volunteer and perform an act of kindness with the profits with like minded people. The brains & inspiration behind the operation is 18 year old Cameron from Ireland who offers insight into the why? factor. “ Why do you just want to give your profits away? Why not? Why have more? There are plenty more people out there that could use them better than I could.” You can read more on his FAQ page here. I would pick the ‘not-quite white’ shirt for the ladies here for £28 if I didn’t spend it on chocolate already…
